Does Allah Still Love Me When I've Drifted Away

Quranic Reflection · 5 min read

You have not been praying. Or you have been living in ways you know are not right. Or you just feel far — disconnected, like the thread between you and Allah has gone slack.

And underneath everything is this question: does He still want me?

He Has Not Left

"Your Lord has not taken leave of you, nor has He detested you."
— Surah Ad-Duha, 93:3

This was revealed when the Prophet felt abandoned by Allah. His answer was direct: I have not left. I have not grown tired of you. I have not turned away. That answer is for you too.

He Is Closer Than You Think

"And We are closer to him than his jugular vein."
— Surah Qaf, 50:16

You cannot drift far enough to put real distance between yourself and a God this close. The distance you feel is real — but it is not the whole picture.

He Is Waiting for You to Turn

The Prophet described Allah as more joyful over a servant's return than a man who finds his lost camel after believing he would die. He is not waiting to judge you. He is waiting to receive you. Turn — even slightly, even now.

Come back. He has been waiting.
